Google has been vague about the mechanics. Android Authority points out that the company hasn't explained how the mode works internally, or how long the boost holds before the phone eases off. On the device itself, the description is closer to marketing than engineering.

Google confirmed to Android Authority that it cannot be turned off. If you plug in every night, 200 cycles is roughly seven months.

So one feature deliberately lets the phone run warmer for speed, while another quietly trims capacity as cycles pile up. Google has not said whether leaning on the fast mode pulls that schedule forward. Until it does, the sane reading is that this is an occasional tool, not a daily habit.

Think of it as an emergency lane. What it should not be is your default. Overnight charging has all the time in the world and no reason to cook the cell.
