Retail inflation went to 4.45 percent in July. That is a 19 month high and the second month above the RBI's 4 percent mark. Food did most of it, 5.52 percent. So if your FD pays 7 percent you are keeping about 2.5 after inflation, before tax. My grocery bill is up around 900 rupees a month since March.
